About Us
Founded in 2023, Cancer Beyond is a 100% youth-led nonprofit dedicated to supporting children, patients, and families affected by cancer through meaningful service and fundraising initiatives. We work closely with young people, their families, and wider communities to provide comfort, connection, and practical support.
Cancer Beyond also creates opportunities for youth to give back, raise awareness, and make a tangible difference in the lives of others. Through student-led initiatives, Cancer Beyond aims to foster empathy, leadership, and a strong sense of community while supporting those facing the challenges of cancer.
Our Story
In 2021, Emily’s uncle passed away from cancer, an experience that deeply impacted those around him. Due to the challenges and restrictions of Covid at the time, her uncle was unable to receive the treatment and support he needed.
Having visited her uncle regularly, this loss was devastating; however, its greatest impact Emily saw it had, was seen in his children — aged just 8 and 11 — who were suddenly faced with a burden far beyond their years.
Witnessing their grief and the challenges they carried at such a young age was moving. It highlighted not only the physical impact of cancer, but also the emotional toll it takes on families, particularly children who are often left to navigate complex feelings and loss without fully understanding it.
This experience became a turning point, shaping a strong desire to support those affected by cancer in a more meaningful way. It inspired a commitment to provide comfort, connection, and support to children and families facing similar challenges.
From this, Cancer Beyond was founded to create a community driven by empathy, service, and real impact, ensuring that no child or family feels alone in their journey.
